Let's welcome Suzette Dickerson, a new Teamsters Local 117 Business Representative for public sector members working at King County!
Before joining the staff of Teamsters 117, Suzette worked as an Intake Officer at the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for 14 years.
For 10 of those years, Suzette served the Union as a Shop Steward. She was a member of the bargaining committee during three cycles of contract negotiations; she handled grievances; and she participated in Labor Management meetings to resolve issues in the workplace.
Suzette has been active in the Union’s Teamsters for Tomorrow (TFT) caucus. She helped organize a TFT Summit that brought over a hundred young Teamsters to the Union hall for solidarity building exercises and educational workshops.
Through TFT, she also organized a Bowl-a-Thon event to raise money for charity, and she helped paint houses for low-income seniors in Pierce County through the Paint Tacoma Beautiful program.
Suzette was hired as a Business Representative and she began her job at the Local on March 2, 2015. In talking about the Union, she said:
“I want to see more members taking an active role in their Union and understanding what their rights are in the workplace.”
Suzette can be reached at 206-441-4860 ext. 1232 or by email at [email protected].
