Our King County Coalition of Unions wrapped up another week of negotiations with the County last Thursday. Full days of negotiations over a new Coalition Labor Agreement impacting thousands of Union members were held on Tuesday, February 25 and Thursday, February 27 at our Teamsters Union Hall in Tukwila.
First off, we need to give a huge shout out to our Local 117 team of Shop Stewards representing our members' interests at the bargaining table. We have a talented group of 32 rank-and-file leaders from all ends of the County who have been doing an incredible job collaborating with our Union partners, sharing their experiences in the workplace, and pushing back on management when needed.
On Tuesday, our Coalition team, which consists of approximately 100 members and staff from 25 County unions, gathered together in a collaborative session to develop union proposals around telework, leave, and bilingual pay, among others. We are especially looking to support newly-hired County employees and those who are less economically advantaged.
On Thursday, we passed a comprehensive economic proposal to the County. We expect to receive their response to our proposals at the next negotiations sessions, which will be held on Tuesday, March 11 and Thursday, March 13.
If you have questions about negotiations, please reach out to one of your Shop Stewards on the bargaining committee. I am also available to answer your questions.
