What is one memorable conversation with a member that sticks in your mind?

I was talking to one individual about signing up and another person was present in the room, sitting across from us. I wasn't planning to talk to that person, but I noticed that she was listening to our conversation. I was going over the pay raises that we were able to achieve over the years at DOC and how we are fighting so hard to get the retiree's medical benefit.

After a little while, she approached me, asked for an application, and signed it on the spot. Sometimes it just takes a bit of communication to see the value of the union.

What is a message you would like to leave the readers with?

I would say just don't be scared to get involved in anything even if it's as small as going to the Lobby Day. When you are part of the Union, you are not just helping yourself, but also the people that work right next to you.
