This summer, a super team of five Teamsters and a Union intern hit Teamsters shops to engage workers in a conversation about their Union. As contract negotiations approach at different locations, it is crucial that every worker is signed up for their union membership. This ensures that everyone's voice is heard and that the group is strong and united during collective bargaining.

The Supreme Court's Janus ruling in 2018 fundamentally changed the landscape of public sector unions by creating the potential for weakening the union's bargaining power and resources. Here is where our Fantastic Six come in.

This team consists of leaders in Teamster shops who are dedicated to creating worker power in the labor movement. Over a span of two weeks, they visited Teamsters workplaces from Pike Place Market in Seattle to correctional facilities across the state. Their conversations were met with enthusiasm and significant success. They were able to get Teamsters membership back to over 80 workers across Washington. Here are their stories:

Building Stronger Workplaces, One Conversation at a Time

The success of this two-week campaign demonstrates the power of peer-to-peer organizing in union building. By sharing their personal experiences and connecting with workers on common ground, the Fantastic Six proved that effective organizing happens through genuine relationships and honest conversations about workplace challenges. One conversation at a time, we build a network of union power that keeps us all afloat in times of adversity.
