We are nearly halfway through legislative session! Local 117 members have been busy throughout, meeting with legislators, turning out for lobby day, testifying in hearings, and working with our labor allies to pass over a dozen bills that will benefit working families.

Some of the most exciting bills we've been working on are ones that would provide unemployment insurance to striking workers (SB 5041), grant interest arbitration rights to a group of newly-organized Teamsters (HB 1068), and give our DOC members the ability to negotiate over supplemental retirement benefits (HB 1069).

You can get a complete overview of our Union's 2025 legislative priorities from a previous blog post.

To date, both chambers - the State Senate and the House of Representatives - have moved bills through their respective policy and fiscal committees. Floor votes on those bills begin on Monday, March 3 and will run through Wednesday, March 12 at 5 p.m. This is the final deadline for all bills to pass out of their Houses of Origin.

Most of our Teamsters legislative priorities are still moving in both chambers. Here is a rundown of where our bills sit:

  • 1068 Doglio WMS Interest Arbitration (Passed off House floor 72-25)
  • 1069 Fosse Supplemental Benefits Collective Bargaining (Passed 78-17)
  • 1070 Davis/ 5043 Dhingra PTSD for Correctional Facility Workers (Did not pass fiscal cutoff)
